About New Approach Health

Trauma informed care for people ready to heal.

Our Story

New Approach Health was founded by Emahlea Wilcher, MPH, RD, LD, after years of watching people cycle through traditional wellness advice without lasting change.

She saw clients dealing with burnout, disordered eating, and chronic stress, but the tools available to them treated symptoms, not root causes. Therapy that didn't connect to the body. Meal plans that ignored stress and regulation. Wellness advice that never addressed trauma.

So she built something different. The New Approach Method, a trauma informed, nervous system based framework that integrates psychology and nutrition to create sustainable healing.

Today, New Approach Health is a team of dietitians trained in this method, serving clients through insurance covered care, premium sessions, and immersive experiences. We help people reclaim their bodies from burnout, dysregulation, and disconnection.

The New Approach Method is a trauma informed, nervous system based framework that treats the whole person, not just what's on your plate.

We integrate nervous system science (regulation, stress response, safety), trauma informed care (honoring your history and where you are), and nutrition and psychonutrition (the connection between mind, body, and food).

This approach works for burnout recovery, disordered eating, chronic stress, and rebuilding trust with your body. It's not about willpower or quick fixes. It's about helping your nervous system feel safe enough to heal. Every dietitian at New Approach Health is trained in The New Approach Method.
