Somatic Nutrition Therapy
Who this is for
Somatic nutrition can support food noise, binge or emotional eating, disordered eating, chronic dieting, sensory eating challenges, neurodivergence, body-image distress, digestive symptoms, and difficulty sensing hunger or fullness.
What the body is doing
Somatic nutrition therapy combines nutrition science with body-based awareness. Sessions may include attention to breathing, posture, tension, internal sensations, hunger, fullness, digestive signals, emotional activation, and the physical experience of eating. These signals become useful information for individualized nutrition care.
Interoception is the ability to notice internal body signals such as hunger, fullness, thirst, nausea, fatigue, tension, temperature, and emotion. Nutrition therapy can strengthen awareness of these cues and support clearer, more confident responses to the body.
Food experiences can activate patterns of urgency, tension, shutdown, numbness, or disconnection. Somatic nutrition creates space to notice these responses and practice skills that support regulation, flexibility, and body connection during meals and throughout the day.
Somatic nutrition builds awareness of internal body signals through interoception and eating. The vagus nerve also influences digestion, appetite, and the physical experience of eating.
What a visit covers
A somatic nutrition session combines nutrition assessment with attention to body cues, eating patterns, internal sensations, stress responses, and practical nutrition strategies. Your dietitian guides the process at a pace that supports clarity, safety, and participation.
